The second day of play in the FIH Indoor World Cup in Poznan ended with England in third place in Pool B, behind second place Russia on goal difference. The current leader in Pool B is Austria.
Famous hockey playing nations continue to be humbled by more experienced sides as they try to take their skills indoors. Notable amongt these was the drubbing of Australia, who suffered a 11-2 defeat at the hands of Germany in men's Pool A. The mighty Argentinian women struggled to find the net, first going down to The Netherlands 8-2, followed later by a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Austria. England play Iran tomorrow, and after their indifferent performance against the USA this afternoon, Iran's 7-4 win over Russia today will sound a warning note.
Namibia continue to be the fall guys, and gals, as they continue to record some X-rated results. Germany put 17 past their women, whilst The Netherlands were four short of that in men's Pool A.
England's match tomorrow has been rescheduled to 15:00 CET and will now take place on Pitch 1. Although England are not one of the stronger indoor nations here, it was very noticeable that only one of their five pool matches was on the showcase court. This has now been rectified.
