LEICESTER MISS EURO PROMOTION

A 28th minute goal by Dundee Wanderers Amy Rowan robbed Leicester of a promotion place in the EuroHockey Women's Indoor Club Trophy in Abbeville, France, this afternoon.

Chloe Rogers, who has been a prodigious scorer for Leicester in this tournament, scored a 13th minute goal from a penalty corner, but Rowan's equaliser in the 1-1 finish means that Leicester end the tournament in third place and miss out on one of the two promotion places. The baton now passes to England's indoor champions, Bowdon Hightown, to try and regain England's cup division status next year.

EuroHockey Women's Indoor Club Trophy final rankings:

  1. SV Arminen (Austria)
  2. Dundee Wanderers (Scotland)
  3. Leicester (England)
  4. Abbeville (France)
  5. Slavia Haradec Kralove (Czech Rep.)
  6. Slaglese (Denmark)
  7. Metrostroy St Petersburg (Russia)
  8. La Gantoise (Belgium)

Austria and Scotland are promoted to the Champions Cup in 2012.

Russia and Belgium are relegated to the Challenge 1 in 2012.

The Club Champions Cup in Mannheim has been won by the host side.
