Today’s League and Cup Results

Shock horror at Saint Hill this afternoon when East Grinstead, who are not famous for surrendering points to their opponents, drew their second match of the weekend 3-3. What makes the result even more remarkable is that their opponents today were struggling Canterbury. Today's match also bore an uncanny resemblance to yesterday's match against Bowdon, when the final goal was scored on the stroke of full time. This time it was Canterbury who snatched the draw when Liam Foster netted the ball from a penalty corner in the 70th minute.

Canterbury did not fare so well in the Women's Premier Division, going down 1-0 to Reading. Leicester and Brooklands Poynton were due to play today but their match was postponed due to Leicester's involvement in the European Indoor Trophy. As a result, both clubs have games in hand.

Canterbury were not the only table leaders to lose today. In the West Conference Isca surrendered their lead by losing 1-0 to lowly Staines, whilst Buckingham move into the top spot after beating Exe 5-1. Another contender for the top of the West Conference, Trojans, had three points taken off them by Swansea, who won their match 2-1.

In the North Conference Sutton Coldfield and Loughborough Students both won their matches today and lead the pack, whilst Beeston move off the bottom for the first time for several weeks after a 2-1 win at home to Doncaster.

The leaders in the East Conference had a bad day with Sevenoaks only managing a draw to visiting Horsham, and Ipswich losing to Harleston Magpies. Surbiton lost 0-2 at Old Loughtonians, but Chelmsford bring themselves back into contention for a crack at the top spot with a 1-0 win at Cambridge City.

IN THE QUARTER FINAL OF THE MEN'S CUP the holders Beeston had a walkover against Reading, whilst Cannock reach the semi final with a 3-1 win over University of Birmingham. Doncaster from the North Conference saw off a late challenge by East Premier A side, Chelmsford, to win 4-2, and last year's losing finalists, Hampstead & Westminster, overcame Old Loughtonians 4-0.
