East Grinstead emerged from their first day in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Championships in Luzern with five points from two matches.*
After a good start against host side Luzerner, which saw Grinstead with a comfortable 3-1 lead with 10 minutes left, the Swiss drew level and then raced ahead to win the match 6-3. Grinstead's scorers were captain Scott Ashdown (2) and Mats Grambusch.
'Grinstead had more luck in their second match, where they played Amsterdam, winning the game 2-1 after the Dutch had gone into half time with a 1-0 lead.
The English side play the Spanish of Club de Campo tomorrow before qualifying for the semi finals or relegation pool matches. They currently sit in third place in Pool B.
*European indoor regulations allow 5 points for a win and 2 points for a draw.
