TWO ENGLAND WINS TODAY IN DELHI

Both England men's and women's teams were in action today in the Commonwealth games in Delhi.

England's women faced Canada, with the Canadians causing a bit of an upset by scoring after only four minutes from the penalty spot, the scorer being Diana Roemer. Fortunately for England they were able to regain their composure and come back strongly, with a penalty corner equaliser from Chloe Rogers, followed by goals from Alex Danson, Charlotte Craddock and Crista Cullen. Final score, 4-1 to England.

The men will be disappointed with their modest result against Trinidad & Tobago in their first game, in a pool where goal difference could have a significant impact. Two goals from Simon Mantell, and goals from Ashley Jackson and Ali Brogdon, gave England a 4-0 win, but New Zealand's 7-1 win over Trinidad yesterday may be a factor in the final reckoning come the completion of the pool stages.
