England women played their final match in the full heat of the Delhi sun this morning, winning the bronze medal match against South Africa by a single goal. The goal scorer was Clifton's Georgie Twigg, who seems to have flowered as a international player during this tournament.
The women's final was won by Australia on penalty strokes, after New Zealand had twice come from behind in the normal time, the equaliser coming from a Clarissa Eshuis penalty corner conversion in the dying seconds. New Zealand got off to a bad start with their penalty strokes, failing to convert their first two, only leaving Fiona Johnson to take the match with her final stroke for Australia.

NB: Visitors may have noticed that our reports have not been accompanied by photographs from Delhi. Unfortunately, although TalkHockeyRadio has reciprocal arrangements with a number of top-class photographers, we were unable to find a photographer who was attending the Games. To make matters worse, England Hockey, who usually make rights-free photographs available (and on occasions we have been their photographer) have not made photographs available either.
