READING SLIP BEHIND IN RACE

The gap between the leader's Leicester and second placed Reading opened up to five points after Reading could only draw against their opposition when they visited University of Birmingham in their Women's Premier Division encounter this afternoon. Helen Richardson opened the scoring for Reading but they found themselves 2-1 down by the 67^th minute and only a late goal by Emma Lee-Smith stopped them suffering only their second defeat of the season. Meanwhile, Leicester kept up their 100% record with a 4-0 win over Brooklands Poynton.

The 2009-2010 season is turning out to be a nightmare for champions Bowdon Hightown as they suffered their sixth defeat, this time at the hands of Slough. Canterbury managed to scrape three points against bottom of the table Trojans to build on their points from last weekend.

In the Conferences it was an unfortunate welcome back for Linda Webb when she scored twice for Exe in their 6-1 win against her old club Aldridge in the West Conference. In the North Conference both Sutton Coldfield and University of Durham recorded high scoring results and continue to pull away from the following pack. Thing are still pretty tight in the East, partly as a result of the 1-0 defeat of leaders Ipswich at the hands of Chelmsford. One of these two clubs could well be looking for an immediate return to the Premiership come the end of the season.
