PREMIERSHIP STALEMATE AFTER FOUR DRAWS

There was a bit of a stalemate in the Premier Division of the Men's England Hockey League this afternoon, with every match but one ending in a draw. Cannock managed to move up a place at the expense of Beeston by beating bottom of the table University of Exeter by a convincing 6-0.

In the Conferences Canterbury and Old Loughtonians are still neck and neck at the top of the East table after they each recorded wins, Canterbury's win being at the expense of third placed Southgate. In the North there was a surprise result at Deeside Ramblers where the home side trailed 5-4 to Barford Tigers before Ali Ghazanfar equalised in the last ten minutes. In the West Team Bath Buccaneers opened up the margin between them and Whitchurch even further after the Buccaneers took the match 5-2, with all their goals scored in the second half.

There was one match in the Women's Conference North, between University of Durham and Belper which the students won 1-0.
