DRAWS AT TOP OF PREMIERSHIP GIVE SURBITON LEAD

The match of the day in the Men's Premiership was undoubtedly the meeting between Beeston and East Grinstead at Highfields. East Grinstead took an early lead through a Dave De Prez goal in the second minute and when the break arrived Grinstead were 2-1 ahead. Come the final whistle East Grinstead would have taken the points had it not been for 70th minute penalty stroke award converted by Chris Seddon. Final score 4-4.

Reading also came back from behind to draw their match away at Bowdon. Trailing at 2-0 with four minutes left, Richard Mantell scored from a penalty corner, followed a minute later by a field goal from Andy Watts. The draw means that Surbiton, who beat Brooklands 4-0 this afternoon, move ahead of Reading to lead the table.

In the West Conference, Bath Buccaneers have increased their lead in the table courtesy of a 7-3 win over University of Birmingham and Whitchurch's 5-4 defeat at Bournville. Buccanneers have not dropped a point all season and there is now a nine point margin between them and second placed Whitchurch.

IN ROUND THREE OF THE WOMEN'S CUP there were a couple of minor giant killing acts. Sutton Coldfield, who are currently leading the North Conference saw off Premier Division Olton & West Warwickshire 3-1, whilst South Club's side Surbiton beat West Conference Buckingham 3-1. Former England international Helen Grant was one of the scorers for Surbiton.
