LEADERS' DRAW KILLS DUTCH HOPES

In the last of the round-robin stage matches in the Women’s Champions Trophy in Monchengladbach this afternoon, the Netherlands grabbed the three points they needed, winning their game against Australia 2-1. Unfortunately, Argentina and Germany failed to play ball and finished their match with a scoreless draw. Their draw means that they both tie on 10 points and the same goal difference, and they play each other again tomorrow in the final. The Netherlands, despite their win today, finish third and they will play China for the bronze medal. Surprisingly, Australia could only manage a fifth place and will play Japan in the 5th/6th play off.
