KOREA TAKE LAST OLYMPIC PLACE WHILST IRELAND FINISH THIRD

Ireland managed third place in the Olympic Qualifiers in Victoria (Canada) yesterday, whilst Korea strolled passed Italy in the final, beating them 5-0. Korea take the final Olympic place and it is expected that the draw for the women’s tournament will be announced by the FIH in the next few days. Ireland’s 3rd/4th place play-off match against Canada ended 2-1, with goals from Ireland’s Jenny McDonnough (pictured) and Cathy McKean. The 5th/6th place match was won on penalty strokes after the game between Malaysia and Uruguay ended 2-2.
