FINAL SHOCK FOR IRELAND

The final of the last of the women’s Olympic Qualifiers will be played later today in Victoria, Canada, and the match will be between Korea and Italy. In the last of the round-robin matches yesterday, Ireland lost 2-0 to Italy in the match to decide who would go through to the final against the favourites, Korea. Korea beat Canada 4-0 in an earlier match and have completed the preliminary stages undefeated. Ireland will play Canada to decide the third place, whilst Uruguay and Malaysia will play a repeat of yesterday’s match, which was won 3-0 by Malaysia, to decide who takes the wooden spoon.
