The International Hockey Federation announced this afternoon at their Congress in Montreux, that the 2014 World Cup has been awarded to The Netherlands. The tournament will take place in The Hague between 2nd and 15th June 2014, when both men's and women's World Cups will be staged together for only the second time.

Commenting on the award, FIH President Leandro Negre said, "It was an incredibly difficult decision to make. The bids from the KNHB and England Hockey were both outstanding, two of the best we have ever seen. It was a very close decision, but we offer our congratulations to The Netherlands, who we are sure will stage an unforgettable double World Cup event.
