They may have been supporting each other in Terrassa last weekend in the EuroHockey League, but there was little quarter given when Reading travelled to East Grinstead for their Premier Division match this afternoon. Goals from Danny Hall, Mark Pearn (3), Dave De Prez (2) and Ashley Jackson gave 'Grinstead an 8-1 win and keep their top spot in the table. Rivals Beeston had a 2-0 win at Brooklands, but this morning's third placed team, Hampstead & Westminster, slip to fifth after a 1-3 defeat at home to Bowdon. Bowdon move up from fifth to third.
In the East Conference Southgate replace Indian Gymkhana as the leaders after beating them 1-4 away. Indian Gym drop down to fourth place, with Holcombe and Wimbledon moving up to second and third respectively.
Sheffield Hallam, who have been amongst the front runners in the North Conference, slip down to fourth after losing 3-2 at Doncaster. Doncaster move into second place. University of Durham keep their lead, thanks to a 60th minute goal by Daniel Coultas, which gave them a single point as they drew 1-1 at home to Barford Tigers.
Bath Buccaneers look set for a second attempt at promotion as they maintain their charge in the West Conference. They beat University of Birmingham 2-4 away, whilst Exeter University came away with three points after a 2-1 win at Whitchurch.
