DEBUT PLAYERS SCORE FOR GB AGAINST ARGENTINA

Great Britain men met Argentina in the first of two test matches at Lilleshall this afternoon.

Ignacio Bergner opened the scoring from a penalty corner, taking Argentina into a 1-0 lead at half time, but goals from Darren Cheesman and Richard Smith, both of whom were earning their first caps for Great Britain, put the hosts in front until the 67th minute, when Lucas Rossi equalised. Final score 2-2.

GB play the second match of the series tomorrow (Thursday).

England squad against Argentina: James Fair (GK)(Cannock), Andy Bull (Brooklands MU), Richard Smith and Nick Catlin (both Loughborough Students), Niall Stott*, Ashley Jackson, Glenn Kirkham and Darren Cheesman (all East Grinstead), Rob Moore (Wimbledon), Jonty Clarke and Iain Mackay (both Reading), Barry Middleton (Club an der Alster, Germany), James Tindall and Richard Alexander (both Surbiton), Adam Dixon (Beeston), and Harry Martin (Old Loughtonians). All players except * are England internationals. Niall Stott is a Scottish international.
