EG BACK ON COURSE

East Grinstead got their league season back on track this afternoon with a useful 4-2 win over third place Surbiton, whilst Beeston kept up their charge with a 3-0 win at home to Bowdon.

The squabble at the bottom of the table leaves Canterbury with a slim chance of survival in the Premiership, despite losing 2-5 to Cannock. With only two matches left, they must win maximum points. Their plight was not helped by ninth place Brooklands picking up a useful point in a 2-2 draw against Loughborough Students.

TalkHockeyRadio was at Luxborough Lane to see Old Loughtonians play bottom of the table Sevenoaks. Eight places apart in the East Conference, it was not difficult to pick out the difference in the two sides, with first half hat-trick from the old boys' Leroy Phillips helping to take the home side into a 4-1 lead at half time. Some of the energy seemed to be sapped from the Old Loughtonian attack in the second half, but although possession was more equally shared than in the first, Sevenoaks lacked the ability to make any impact on the home defence. The upending of a Sevenoaks forward resulted in a penalty stroke for the visitors, but the final 4-2 score means that the best that Sevenoaks can now hope for is a play-off place.

There was one Women's Premier Division match today, which saw Brooklands Poynton relegated. Goals by Hannah Macleod and Rebecca Herbert (2) gave Leicester a 3-0 win and leaves Brooklands seven points adrift at the bottom of the table.
