BROOKLANDS READY FOR THE DROP

With only six points now available to be won for most teams in the Women's Premiership, the only hope for Brooklands Poynton to avoid relegation is the fact they have a game in hand. This afternoon they went down 1-0 to Olton & West Warwickshire and must now win their remaining three matches to avoid the drop. As these include Canterbury and Leicester, it looks as if they will be playing Conference hockey next season.

The leading sides both won today, Leicester 4-0 over Clifton, and Canterbury 4-0 over Cannock. Leicester stay one point ahead of Canterbury at the top of the table. Reading, who have had an improved run after their internationals returned to the fold, move up into third place after overcoming University of Birmingham. But they have a hat-trick of second-half penalty corners from Kate Walsh to thank for their 4-3 win.

Slough slip down from third to fifth after losing 2-0 at Bowdon Hightown. Bowdon's win moves them up one place to fourth on goal difference.
