GERMANY THROUGH TO FINAL

Germany have reached the finals at the last of the Olympic Qualifiers in Japan by beating the host nation 4-0 yesterday (Thursday). They are on maximum points from the four matches they have played in the round-robin stage and they play the last of their preliminary round matches against Poland on Saturday. Today is a rest day. The other final place almost certainly depends on the outcome of Saturday’s match between Japan and Malaysia. Japan are on nine points and Malaysia on seven. The final will be played on Sunday. Only the winner will go through to the Olympic Games in August.
