The International Hockey Federation has announced the pools for the Olympic Games in August. The selection throws up no easy routes through to the finals and Great Britain find themselves in Pool B with Australia, Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa and Canada. Pool A consists of Germany, Spain, Korea, New Zealand, Belgium, and China.
The women’s pools will be announced on the completion of the women’s qualifying tournaments. Spain look favourites to win the tournament in Baku, which finishes on Sunday. The second women’s Olympic qualifier starts in Kazan (Russia) tomorrow (Saturday), followed the following weekend by the final qualifier in Victoria, British Columbia. Great Britain’s women are already qualified by virtue of winning bronze at the European Nations in Manchester last year.
