BOWDON AND CLIFTON’S FUTURE TO BE DECIDED NEXT WEEKEND

All three of the top sides won their matches in the Women's Premier Division this afternoon. Possibly the most significant result was the defeat of Clifton at home to second place Reading. Clifton's failure to pick up any points means that the survival of Clifton and Bowdon Hightown in the top flight will depend on the outcome of their fixture next weekend.

Table toppers Leicester rubbed salt into Trojans' wounds by inflicted a 6-0 defeat on them. Trojans have only won one point all season and are already condemned to the drop.

Ipswich and Sevenoaks continue to fight it out at the top of the Women's East Conference, with both sides recording victories this afternoon. Both are on 40 points with Ipswich holding the advantage on goal difference. Sevenoaks will play Harleston Magpies next weekend, which is likely to be the more difficult of the last remaining fixtures. Ipswich will be playing Old Loughtonians.

In the West there is a fierce contest between Cannock and Barnes Ealing Hounslow for the play-off place, with both clubs on 44 points but with Cannock holding by far the better goal difference.

In the Women's North Conference, both University of Durham and Sutton Coldfield won their matches. University of Durham lead the table, three points ahead of Sutton but on the same goal difference, so there is a last chance opportunity for Sutton to snatch the promotion play-off place next weekend.

The men's divisions were playing catch-up today and in the Premier Division every side is now on 40 points. Despite an early goal from Richard Alexander, Reading took the three points at home.

Catching up with the report on our featured match yesterday, Old Loughtonians beat Chelmsford 6-1 this afternoon, which puts them two points behind leaders Canterbury in the East Conference.
