DUTCH CONFIRM SECOND PLACE by Peter Colwill at the Gant EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach

Germany ensured second place in their pool beating Belgium 4-1 with Janine Beerman scoring the goal of the day with a lengthy dribble. They will play Spain who topped the other group with maximum points although they struggled to beat Azerbaijan.

The Netherlands claimed the unfamiliar spot of second place, beating Italy 5-1. It is ironic that England, having topped their pool, still have to face the Dutch.
