BELGIUM IN 3-2 THRILLER REACH SEMI-FINALS by Peter Colwill at the Gant EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach

Belgium, needing only a draw, recovered from a 2-0 half time deficit to beat Spain 3-2 and claim a place in the semi-final against The Netherlands and also a place at the Olympics. Max Lucyx, their Captain (who was playing his 300^th match), led the way with their first goal.

Taeka Taekema scored from The Netherlands’ first four corners in their 7-4 defeat of Ireland, who at one stage led 2-1.

Germany predictably beat Russia, 7-0
