England lost their semi-final match in the Women’s Junior
World Cup in Monchengladbach this afternoon. Two penalty corner conversions
from Jimena Cedres, plus a further penalty corner from the intriguingly named
Julia Gomes Fantasia, put an end to England’s dream of reaching the final.
It was a game marked by a rash of yellow cards, including
ones to England’s Suzy Petty and Rebecca Van Berkel. England was unable to penetrate the Argentine
defence and the match ended 3-0 to Argentina.
England will contest the bronze on Sunday when they play
India. India lost their semi-final match
against the Dutch, setting up a classical Argentina versus The Netherlands
final.
