England men put in an improved performance in the second of
the three match series against The Netherlands in the Now Pensions Cup in
Wakefield this afternoon.
England led for much of the first half thanks to a Tom
Carson goal and, although Rogier Hofman equalised early in the second half, a
Dutch own goal and a second from Carson gave England a brief 3-1 lead.
A second goal from Hofman, and an equaliser from Constantijn
Yonker, saw the match end on 3-3.
England’s girls also faced the Dutch this afternoon. They
played them in the semi-final of the European Under 18 Championships in Dublin.
Lily Elliott opened the scoring, giving England a 1-0 lead
after 14 minutes But it was the Dutch all the way thereafter, with their
Ginella Zerbo scoring a hat trick in an eventual 6-1 win. England will play France for the bronze medal
tomorrow.
