Pennine Pumas finished top of the 2010 GB Super League with four straight wins. The last of the matches in the competition were played today at Edinburgh's Peffermill stadium, but the outcomes were academic, as the Pumas had entered this weekend's matches on 9 points from three games and could not be caught.
Yesterday (Saturday) had seen the Pumas play their final match by beating Highland Jaguars 4-2, whilst Caledonian Cougars had overcome Celtic Panthers 2-0.
Today it was the turn of Saxon Tigers to play the Cougars, with their 1-1 draw given them second place in the league, although 7 points behind the Pumas. The other match, between Highland Jaguars and Celtic Panthers, ended 6-3 in favour of the Panthers.
Due to preparation for World Cup qualification tournaments involving Scotland and Wales, there was no women's Super League this year.
GB SUPER LEAGUE FINAL TABLE: 1st Pennine Pumas 12 pts (+11), 2nd Saxon Tigers 5 pts (+2), 3rd Highland Jaguars 4 pts (-3), 4th Caledonian Cougars 4 pts (-3), 5th Celtic Panthers 3 pts (-7).
