The GB Super League played it's second day of hockey at Lilleshall today.
Highland Jaguars managed to salvage a point in their first match of the competition, coming back in the second half from being 3-0 down. Two goals from Saxon Tigers' Tim Pinnock and a goal from Richard Springham had given Tigers the lead, but Kenny Bains' early second half goal signalled the start of a revival that saw Josh Cairns score twice from penalty corners. Final score 3-3.
Celtic Panthers had no such luck against Pennine Pumas. An early Pumas penalty corner conversion by Andy Bull was met by a reply from Ben Croxall, but four more first half goals for the Pumas from Stuart Pilgrim, Alex Edmonstone (2) and David Becket, and a second by Becket 24 minutes into the second half, gave Pumas a 6-1 victory.
The GB Super League returns on Wednesday, with Caledonian Cougars and Highland Jaguars meeting in Stirling, Scotland, and Saxon Tigers playing Pennine Pumas at Lilleshall. Next weekend will see the completion of the league, which will be played at Peffermill, Edinburgh.
