SLOUGH LOOKING PRETTIER IN PINK by Peter Savage in Madrid
Maybe it was the pink shirts but Slough looked a far better side when they took the court against Ritm Grodno in the last of the relegation pool matches in the EuroHockey Women's Indoor Club Champions Cup here in Madrid this morning. Jane Smith was again Slough's danger woman scoring all but one of her side's five goals. Some of the slackness and poor passing of the previous two days seem to have been banished, although afer Slough's fifth and final goal - scored by Fiona Greenham - there was a worrying five minutes when their opponents scored twice and closed the gap to two goals. Slough hung on in to win the magtch 5-3 and take maximum points in the pool and with it a final fifth place in the tournament.
Photographs from the weekend will appear on our main web site at www.talkhockeyradio.co.uk tomorrow (Monday) together with a full report in our on-line magazine HockeyTalk, available to download from Thursdsay.
