GREAT BRITAIN ON VERGE OF QUALIFICATION
The result of the last round-robin stage matches seemed almost as irrelevance today. The big match is tomorrow. There is only one ticket to Beijing and the crossover match between Great Britain and India at 21:00 GMT will decide it. Great Britain's match against Austria today was simply a formality, which GB won by a comparatively modest 4-0, with goals from James Tindall, Ashley Jackson, Richard Mantell, and Rob Moore. The Austrians are probably the best of the outsiders in the Olympic Qualifiers in Santiago but no match for the likes of GB and India. The evidence of the meeting between the two top nations on Thursday shows that either side can win it, but there are many examples of sides winning in the round robin stages of a competition only to lose in the final. GB will need to play better than they did on Thursday to pass the final test.
