England managed to get three points in the bag in their
opening match in the Men’s World League in Delhi, India, today. Playing the hosts, Adam Dixon managed to
convert a penalty corner in each half to give England a 2-0 win.
In the other Pool A match Germany enjoyed a decisive 6-1
over New Zealand. As a result, Germany go top of the pool, ahead of England on
goal difference.
The surprise package of the World League has been
Argentina. Ranked 11th in the
world, they continued to surprise us with a 2-5 win over The Netherlands, with
three of the Argentine goals being scored in the last 15 minutes.
Belgium might have started their campaign with a point but
they were deprived of a draw when Australia’s Jacob Whetton scored in the last
minute. Final score, 3-2 to Australia.
England play their second Pool A match tomorrow when they
play Germany.
