VICTORY OVER GERMANS LEAVES ENGLAND SECOND.



England secured a second place finish behind The Netherlands in Pool A of the World League Finals in Argentina today. 

Playing Germany, Eileen Hoffman’s 17th minute goal for the Germans was cancelled out in less than a minute by Alex Danson. England moved into the lead with a penalty corner conversion early in the second half – Sophie Bray the scorer.  The icing on the cake was a second from Danson on the stroke of full time.  Final score 3-1 to England.

In the other Pool A match The Netherlands beat Korea 3-0.

The standings at the completion of Pool A are: 1. The Netherlands  9 pts (+9), 2. England 6 pts (+5), 3. Korea 1 pt (-6), 4. Germany 1 pt (-8).

England will play the third place finisher in Pool B on Thursday in the Quarter Finals.  Pool B has not been completed at the time of uploading this.
