RECKERS WRECKS BRITAIN'S OPENING MATCH

Great Britain men struggled against the powerful Dutch and the sweltering heat on the opening day of their Champions Trophy campaign in Kuala Lumpur today. The British side went down in the second minute to a goal in open play from Teun de Nooijer but managed to contain the Dutch until the second half, when Ronald Brouwer found the net after only five minutes. Two further goals for The Netherlands off the stick of Rob Reckers put the match beyond the Great Britain.

GB have another difficult game tomorrow when they face World Champions, Germany. The Germans managed to dispatch Pakistan 5-2 earlier today. The host nation, Malaysia, managed a creditable result at the hands of Australia, losing 2-0. The match between Spain and Korea ended in a 2-2 draw.

TalkHockeyRadio will be in Kuala Lumpur from Tuesday, with daily reports and photographs of matches from Wednesday onwards.
