The EuroHockey League Round 1.1 in Mulheim finished as it started, with torrential rain and a danger of a delay caused by a flooded pitch. Thankfully, the final match, between Bloemendaal and Dinamo Kazan, was completed, but the conditions meant that the game did not come up to expectations, with a relatively modest 3-1 win to the Dutch.
It was another bad day for the Spanish with the host club, Uhlenhorst, recording a 4-2 win over Atletic Terrassa.
Round 1.2 takes place in Antwerp in two weeks time, with Reading representing English interests. TalkHockeyRadio will be there.
