Cannock are the only men’s Premier Division side to keep a 100% record after the evening match at East Grinstead ended 3-2 in favour of the visitors, Reading. Four of the five goals were the work of England internationals, with Barry Middleton and Ashley Jackson scoring for East Grinstead and Simon Mantell scoring twice for Reading. Reading’s other goal was from Andy Watts. Cannock had recorded a 4-1 win over University of Exeter for maximum points from three matches.
New boys Southgate recorded their first points after a 1-1 draw at Loughborough Students. Hampstead & Westminster remain on zero points, but they have a game in hand and play Beeston tomorrow.
In the North Conference Sheffield Hallam are setting the pace with a 4-2 win over Leek, whilst Whitchurch lost their 100% record at Cardiff but remain top of the West Conference. Holcombe rise to the top of the East Conference after a 5-1 win over Teddington.
There was action in the Investec Women’s League Premier Division today. Alex Danson returned to the Reading side after international duties to score the first goal in her side’s 3-0 win over University of Birmingham. They now lead the table after Clifton lost their 100% record away to Bowdon Hightown. That match ended 2-2.
Leicester scored their first points of the season at the expense of Suttton Coldfield, with a 3-0 win. The other side without points, Cannock, suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Olton and West Warwicks.
