PUKKA WIN LEAVES READING PIE-EYED

A dominant Pukka Pies sponsored Leicester side put on an impressive performance against one of their nearest rivals this afternoon at Sonning Lane, opening up an eight goal lead in the Women's Premierships and making themselves hot favourites to win the Championships.

Leicester, who are on a roll after taking the Indoor Championships in Nottingham last weekend, were unstoppable. They will seldom meet opposition of the class of the star-studded Reading side and the scoreline says much about the quality of the side.

Chloe Rogers, who has played some impressive hockey indoors, both for England and Leicester, showed that her skills are not restricted to hockey on the boards. Rogers opened the scoring with a 12^th minute penalty corner (see our picture) with Katie Long making it two 11 minutes later. Rogers scored her second early in the second half, with Becky Herbert making it four just before the final whistle. Alex Danson was the only scorer for Reading in a match that ended 4-1 in Leicester's favour.

In the Conferences, Ipswich opened up a four point gap over chasing Sevenoaks by beating their rivals 3-1 at home in the East Conference. There was also a first versus second match in the North Conference where University of Durham leapfrogged Sutton Coldfield as a result of a 0-1 win at Sutton. In the West, Barnes Hounslow Ealing and Cannock are starting to pull away from the pack, both recording wins today.
