ENGLAND SUFFER SECOND DEFEAT IN CAPE TOWN

An early goal by Sophie Bray in England's second match in the Investec Challenge in Cape Town yesterday (Tuesday) was an encouraging start against Olympic Champions, The Netherlands. In fact England managed to hang on to their lead for much of the first half until Kitty Van Male found the net, followed by the ever-dangerous Maartje Paumen from a penalty corner.

The second half had barely started before the Dutch struck twice more, the first another penalty corner strike from Paumen, and the second in open play from Roos Drost. Final score, 4-1 to The Netherlands.

England play their third and final preliminary match on Thursday against Australia. The finals and 3rd/4th place match are on Saturday.
