GB THROUGH TO FINAL OF AUSTRALIA YOUTH OLYMPICS

A clinical display of hockey against a determined USA side has seen Great Britain reach the final of the Australia Youth Olympics in Sydney. Playing their last preliminary match yesterday (Friday), they beat the USA 6-0 with goals from Ross Gilham-Jones, Sam French, Phillip Roper (2), Andy Bull, and Alan Forsyth.
On Wednesday GB had overcome Malaysia 7-3 but the following day lost to Australia 6-4, despite going into the second half at 3-3.
GB will play Australia again in the final tomorrow.
Great Britain's women lost their opening match on Wednesday with a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Australia. This was followed by a 1-2 defeat against China. In yesterday's final preliminary match against the USA, goals from Hannah Martin (2), Lily Owsley, Shona McCallin and Suzannah Petty, secured them a 5-0 win.
England will now play off for third place.
