Dutch international and specialist penalty corner striker Maartje Paumen has been elected women's FIH Player of the Year. Nominations were put together by a panel of coaches, including England's Danny Kerry, before a player vote determined the winner. Paumen had previously won the FIH Young Player of the Year Award in 2008.
The award follows on from Paumen becoming the highest scorer in Champions Trophy history when she scored twice during The Netherlands 4-1 victory over Japan on Tuesday.
This years FIH Young Player of the Year is Stacey Michelsen of New Zealand.
The men's award had been announced during the Champions Trophy in New Zealand and won by Jamie Dwyer
