BEESTON AND SURBITON REACH ROUND 2. News from the EuroHockey League in Barcelona.

Both English teams in Round 1.1 of the Euro Hockey League are through to the KO16 at Easter after finishing second in their pools.

Beeston and Surbiton’s luck of Friday was not repeated today, as both sides suffered defeats, Beeston losing 2-3 to Harvestehuder and Subiton losing 3-0 to Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. Beeston will be bitterly disappointed with result of today’s match, which saw them 2-0 ahead after only nine minutes after Christopher Proctor and Tim Whiteman both found the net. But their German opponents pulled three back before half-time and that was the final score.

The UK’s Celtic contingent is out of the competition after both sides finished third in their Pools. Cardiff & Met, the Welsh representatives, were in the same pool as Beeston and, after losing to them 3-1 on Friday, they suffered a 9-1 defeat at the hands of Harvestehuder yesterday.  Scotland’s Kelburne, lost 4-1 to the Poles from Grunwald Poznan this afternoon, having lost 6-0 to Dutch side Oranje Zwart on Friday.
